With the world of online RPGs being so vast and extensive, how do you choose which one to play? First off, for those who don’t know, an RPG is an acronym for a “Role Playing Game”. Hence its title, the player assumes the role of a character in the game, and basically controls everything the character says and does. RPG’s offer the player a sense of community with the other role-players – it is this aspect that drives many gamers away from other games such as Counter-Strike, and into Role Playing Games. There are hundreds of different RPG’s to choose from, including best sellers like Diablo, Baldur’s Gate and Final Fantasy. Choosing one is not too complicated; there are many reviews and ratings on the World Wide Web to help you decide – all you have to do is pick which one best suits your gaming interests and needs. Below is a review of Dragon Raja.
Dragon Raja is a free, 3D third person RPG, much graphically like Diablo II, if not better. However, it is a MUD, which stands for “Multi User Dungeon”. A MUD is a mode in which all the players on a server are connected to the same world. Within this world, all the players can interact with each other; unlike Diablo, where only a certain amount of players can play in the same world at a time, which limits the games’ social and interactive capabilities. The story of Dragon Raja is based on a time when three nations are at war; a time where heroes are born, and it is up to you to decide the fate of the Dragon Raja world. Like many popular RPGs, Dragon Raja is based on a system of leveling, where characters level themselves higher to become more powerful or more skilled. In Dragon Raja, you can choose to level solo or in a party, where experience is shared between party members. There is so much variety in Dragon Raja, it’s really hard to comprehend the possibilities and variables. For one, there are five different, gender selectable classes of characters to pick from – a Warrior, Wizard, Priest, Thief, and Archer. When you create a character you also get to pick which of the three nations you will join – a choice that will decide which infantry you are a part of if you choose to draft yourself into a war. You also get to pick what job skill you would like to have – would you like to mine, smelt and craft metal? Or perhaps you would like to tailor clothing, or become an alchemist and concoct potions. As you level your job skill, you can choose to become a merchant, and sell your items for in game money, called Crit. Dragon Raja has an advanced merchant system, where players can post their items for advertisement, much like newspaper classifieds. When you reach a level of 100+, Dragon Raja gives you the ability to combine another class with your current one, giving you more unexplored territory to try out. You can also pick a second job skill, ensuring that you never get bored with just one. In Dragon Raja, there are many weapons, armor and items that can fully customize your character’s appearance and statistics – you even have a choice of creating your own skin and decoration color. For you magic lovers out there, Dragon Raja has hundreds of impressive, different spells for Wizards and Priests to memorize and use in battle. For you bloodthirsty players, there are hundreds of different monsters to kill, and Player vs Player combat is a significant aspect of gameplay. Dragon Raja also has a unique Bounty system, where you can post a character name and a reward for how much you’re willing to pay to see them dead. If you’re the kind of player that is more interested in socializing and meeting new people that share your interests, you should try an internet singles service, but Dragon Raja should come second. Dragon Raja gives you the opportunity to join guilds, which are groups of people that interact with one another in their guild chat. There are also a wide diversity of different nationalities online all of the time – it gives you the opportunity to meet people of different countries and cultures. Dragon Raja also contains quests for the player to engage in, which could gain them fame and fortune. There is also a donation system, where players can donate money, and be entered into a draw for rare and magical items. There is so much more about Dragon Raja that can’t be fully explained on paper; you’ll just have to experience the game for yourself.
In conclusion, the variety of characters, items, spells, monsters, combat situations and job skills makes Dragon Raja a very worthwhile game to play. If you’re looking for an exciting, interactive, and interesting game, consider choosing Dragon Raja – It will never get boring, and you will never run out of new things to discover and do.
