Over 2,000 gamers took part in the Swordsfall Kickstarter to allow author Brandon Dixon to create an RPG setting and art book for the world of Tikor.
Tikor is an Afropunk setting. In this case, we have a world in which gods and spirits are real. Humanity was created by them, with different cultures reflecting the ethos of each god.
The many people and spirits of Tikor managed to co-exist, harmoniously or otherwise, until Mime, the Garuda deity of Wisdom was murdered by a mortal assassin. Mortal had never killed god before. The two nations of Garuda and Vinata, home of the killer, went to war.
Swordsfall picks up during an easy armistice between these bitter enemies. It’s the year 10 A.R. and rumours of god-killing weapons called Grim Arms are beginning to surface.
The Summit of Kings
The Summit of Kings – Battle for the Supreme Jalen is a 2-4 player one-shot, and it is the first time we’ve seen any of the core mechanics to the forthcoming Swordsfall RPG.
This is your jumpstart adventure for Swordsfall, or quick start download that introduces the rules, the world and wraps it all up in a rap battle.
The download, which is available from DriveThruRPG or Swordsfall.com, includes one class, six prebuilt characters, custom character generation rules, 23 techniques, side hustles and that much-anticipated introduction to the Swordsfall Cinematic Dice System.
Jalen is a profession, of sorts, in Tikor. They are the voice of the people, and we’re told that while it is possible to train for the role, the most powerful are born into it and usually when there are people in need.
Swordsfall is a World Anvil project, and you can read more about the Jalen over there.
The Summit of Kings is a once a year special event held to discover which of these word wielders is best in straight oratorial combat. The event is invite-only, with millions of Jalen tracked by The Sixteen to determine who should be honoured with the call.
You can pick up The Summit of Kings: Battle for the Supreme Jalen for $9.99.
