Do you consider yourself to be a games collector?
Specifically, are you a collector of computer games? That’s a vital distinction because computer games don’t need to take up any physical space any more. You don’t need to put them in your cupboard.
Fanatical surveyed over 6,000 people and asked them whether they were game collectors and, if so, how many games they had.
Now, I don’t think Fanatical surveyed ordinary people. I think they surveyed their customers. Fanatical is a site that partners with shops and game designers to buy Steam keys in bulk and then sell them to you at a big discount. As a result, Fanatical customers have a lot of games.
71% of the people in Fanatical’s survey considered themselves at the Collector level. On average, this segment of people owned 931 games.
The average across the whole survey was 770. Do you own 770 games?
Men tend to have more games; 179 more, however, it’s worth noting that Fanatical’s data shows that 70 women, that’s more than 10% of the survey size, each had over 1,000 games.
The most significant difference is in age. If you’re under 18 and in this set, then you may barely have 500 games, but if you’ve in the 35-44 bracket and grew up with computer games, then you’ll have more than 900.
