R. Talsorian Games’ The Witcher tabletop roleplaying game has a narrative character in it called Rodolf Kazmer. In fact, the name Rodolf appears 86 times.
Rodolf introduces the world and provides a blurb for mechanics and equipment. In this new bit of The Witcher TTRPG lore, he’s introducing crossbow upgrades.
These upgrades need to be crafted or bought and then installed (which takes a full action round) to improve the weapon. A hand crossbow can support one such upgrade, others two.
What are the crossbow upgrades? Well, the new rules from Rofolf’s Wagon only stretch to a single page, but there’s Nilfgaardian Sights, Improved Windlass, Skelliger Brace, High Tension String and a Stabilizing Brace.
Upgrades of the same type don’t stack, but the combination of any two take an already dangerous weapon and makes the crossbow significantly better.
You can download the free upgrade rules from here directly or by visiting the Game Aids section on R Talsorian and selecting Rodolf’s Wagon #3: Crossbow Upgrades.
