I have owned my dice trays than I have ever used.
I like dice trays, I’m not too fond of the way dice are prone to scattering off the table right when you want players to be immersed in the game. For similar reasons, though, I much prefer it if the dice tray on the table is in keeping with the game’s feel and flavour.
My favourite dice tray is a Tales from the Loop foldable tray from All Rolled Up. As it folds, it’s easy to bring with me, but it’s not strong with its traditional fantasy look.
This scroll rolling tray from Elderwood Academy might be the best of both worlds. It’s not new, I first bookmarked this creation a few years ago, but Elderwood has been making updates.
All these trays will now come with a crafted Walnut base wood and will feature maple wood accents.
You get to pick the art that appears in the base, as you do the colour of the material (I think a gold spellcircle on a crimson base works for me), and then you get to pick your frame for the accent.
The corners of the tray are where the design magic is. Those are magnets, and they allow the sides to snap off, to be safely reattached later, and therefore mean you can wrap your dice tray up in itself, poke the newly made scroll in the corner of your bag and take it safely home.
Have you shopped with Elderwood Academy before? Would you recommend their build and designs?
