It’s not too hard to find gamers who consider The Dark Eye to be the best tabletop roleplaying game ever. It was originally published by Schmidt Spiele in Germany in 1984 and old sold D&D for many years.
Now, published by Ulisses Spiele and on its 5th edition (2015) the game has been translated into English and has several English language supplements.
In response to the Covid-19 crisis, Ulisses Spiele has made that English language version of The Dark Eye a Pay What You Want game at DriveThruRPG.
Pay What You Want isn’t free, and I encourage you to pay what you want, and Ulisses Spiele suggests $14.99.
That’s not all. The company has also made the Vampire of Havena a Pay What You Want download too.
The Vampire of Havena is a solo adventure, so if you’re stuck in the apartment alone, you now have access to The Dark Eye core rules and a game you can play alone.
Lastly, perhaps just for the hat trick of generosity, the solo adventure Conspiracy of Mages is also a Pay What You Want.
There will, of course, be spoilers buy you an see a playthrough of part one of The Dark Eye’s Vampire of Havena in this YouTube from Ulisses.
Ulisses Spiele shared this page of The Dark Eye resources that links to these freebies and other tips or tools for getting started with the RPG while staying at home.
