Geek Native reviewed Lancer at the start of the year, the mecha RPG-meets-skirmish strategy game from Massif Press and liked it.
The original RPG is the result of a successful Kickstarter which has fulfilled in digital and has the core rules at the printers. There are a fan-run Discord server and a free to download character builder and compendium app called Comp/Con.
Sound good? It is… but don’t buy Lancer. Not this week. The RPG usually costs $25 from Itch.io. Donate that money to a charity that’s fighting the Covid-19 outbreak or providing relief to those affected by it. Show your receipt to Massif Press, and they’ll give you a copy of the RPG for free.
It should be easy enough to find a charity that’s active in the Covid-19 sphere, able to collect money online and provide you with a proof of the deed.
The site UK Fundraising has a list, for example. However, Massif Press shared a selection of charities themselves which helps give guidance on the sort of relief work they had in mind.
Massif Press’ generous offer is good up until April 8th, which is when the lockdown in their part of the world is (currently) due to end.
Geek Native's policy is not to copy and paste entire press releases, though we do use quotes and comments from them. As often as possible, articles here contain analysis, observation and denote speculation. You can read the site's commitment to accuracy and disclosure here.
