The Origins Game Fair is the large convention from the non-profit Game Manufacturers Association (GAMA). The 46th Annual Origins Game Fair was scheduled for June 17-21 this year but, this will come as no surprise, has been postponed due to Covid-19.
Two things will happen instead.
Firstly, there will be a brand new Origins Online virtual cone for tabletop fans, guest authors, artists, designers and lots of games held that week instead.
GAMA hasn’t released any details about this online event yet except to say to watch the official Origins Game Fair site for more information.
The face to face convention is being rescheduled to October 7-11, 2020. It’s hoped that the event will still attract thousands of board games, collectable card games, miniatures and roleplaying game enthusiastic.
GAMA Executive Director, John Stacy said;
The decision to postpone the convention was not one we made lightly. The safety and well-being of the Origins community is our number one priority. Given the current health situation, we believe that it is best to move the convention to October.”
We are all in this together. The postponement of the in-person event and introduction of Origins Online is an opportunity for the hobby games industry and broader gaming community to get excited together and come back stronger on the other side of this pandemic,”
