Pelgrane Press’s The Yellow King RPG has finally arrived.
The Kickstarter for the game launched mid-way through 2017 and had an estimated delivery date of December 2018. It’s not been easy for Pelgrane and backers have had to be patient. However, the PDF is finally available for everyone else to buy from DriveThruRPG.
Written and designed by Robin D Laws, The Yellow King RPG is a GUMSHOE game inspired by Robert W. Chambers’ short stories. Those stories are often compared to Lovecraft but I find the alien menace far more sinister.
The game is made up of four different books;
- Book 1: Paris – 192 pages for basic rules, chargen and setting details for the Belle Epoque with adventure.
- Book 2: The Wars – 176 pages for chargen, new technology, setting details for the European Wars and introductory adventure.
- Book 3: Aftermath – 186 pages for chargen, factions, NPCs and details on the post-Carcosan present with introductory adventure.
- Book 4: This Is Normal Now – 176 pages for chargen, new organisations, monsters suitable for the weird now and, of course, an introductory adventure.
There’s even an accompanying suite of music and a host of free to download resources.
