Wraith: The Oblivion is a tabletop RPG set in the World of Darkness and, like in Vampire: The Masquerade, you’re dead. Unlike in Vampire, Wraiths are far more ephemeral and ghostly.
The tabletop game has a feature I’ve not seen used elsewhere. Another player at the table is also playing an entity that represents your darkness, whispering to you, undermining your values, determination and generally being a spooky pain.
I have to say, this trailer for Fast Travel Games seems to capture the spirit of Wraith.
It gets more even scarier – this is a VR game. If you’ve not tried a VR horror game before then, it’s hard to describe just how terrifyingly effective they can be.
Afterlife is expected out on all major VR platforms, and the gameplay trailer is due in August. That suggests we’re looking at many more months before the game is actually out.
