At D&D Live last night, Wizards of the Coast announced D&D’s first official cookbook. There are unofficial ones, such as the pay-what-you-want Antonia Lupri’s Ravenloft Cookbook ($2 suggested cost) at the DMs Guild, but this is the first collection of fantasy-themed recipes from Wizards.
The collection is called Heroes’ Feast, which also happens to be a spell in D&D which can feed a large party of adventurers, and has been written by Kyle Newman, Jon Peterson and Micheal Witwer. All three previously worked together on Dungeons & Dragons Art & Arcana: A Visual History.
In Heroes’ Feast, you’ll find recipes for meals and snacks, for vegetarian, meat and fish dishes, as well as desserts and cocktails. It’s the latter I think I could just about manage.
Meal names include the likes of Bytopian Shepherd’s Bread, Iron Rations, savory Hand Pies, and Hogs in Bedrolls. That last one might just be Pigs in Blankets, a Geek Native approved party snack. There’s also Amphail Braised Beef, Hommlet Golden Brown Roasted Turkey, Drow Mushroom Steaks, and Moonshae Seafood Risotto.
Amazon is already taking pre-orders for Heroes’ Feast, with Amazon US offering a discount of $11.50 from the suggested $35 price.
