Pathfinder’s sci-fi sister game, Starfinder, will launch two official playtests next month. Paizo announced this week that the playtests have the goal of contributing to a yet-to-be-announced book.
Nanocyte
The Nanocyte is a new class for Starfinder. Characters of this class have bodies will with nanites, tiny robots which grant their hosts high strength and the ability to reshape their bodies.
Paizo says that Nanocytes can be created in several ways. Characters could become a Naocyte through voluntary symbiosis, accidental infection or even as a result of excruciating experiments.
Mech rules
Also starting in July, Paizo will start to playtest official Starfinder mech rules.
PCs will be able to guide single-seat mechs or even act as a team to drive those battlefield behemoth machines that require multiple pilots.
Paizo acknowledges the game balance issues mecha combat brings to Starfinder and call the devices a “significant power boost”.
