We’re halfway, give or take, through the year and so time for a rare Geek Native site update.
Regular readers will have noticed some navigational tweaks. These have been done to speed up the site.
The growing clutter of social media icons in the footer of every page has been replaced by a single Social Media link. This takes you to a page that not only describes how and where Geek Native uses social media but how often.
You’ll also see the blog’s newest phone monster mascot, Blinky the TikTok Cyclops again on that page.
The Archives of past posts that appeared in a dropdown in the sidebar has been replaced with a “Quick Link” section.
That dropdown was handy, but it meant loading up 10 years worth of options for each page load, and that wasn’t kind to people rationing their mobile data.
You will also find a link to the RPG Publisher Spotlight page in the Quick Link section. Is this is a new and permanent record of winners, and the hope is that it will allow the spotlight to shine even more brightly.
The top navigation bars have been contracted. Why? So that the site loaded more cleanly on mobiles. I wanted to reduce the flicker of the words appearing before the blog released readers were on a small screen and so swapped out to a single hamburger icon.
The Resources menu at the very top includes some aliases such as links to the latest TTRPG news and the slowly growing collection of generators in RPG Tools.
