Desperados III is a game from THQ Nordic and Mimimi Games published this month, out on Steam and GOG, and with an “Overwhelmingly Positive” review rating on the former.
The wild west adventure is a story-driven game that blends action and stealth because sometimes you need a plan to survive.
Desperados costs £44.99. However, there’s a free to download tabletop RPG from Pegasus Press that’s been launched to help whisk-up interest.
The RPG is based on the computer game and is a standalone system in its own right, offering up an illustrated rulebook, an entire adventure along with character sheets, map and even tokens.
System wise, Desperados uses 3d6 which are matched against character ability tests. The computer game is very tactical, and this is one reason why the TTRPG comes with maps and tokens, so you can pay attention to line of sight here too. Getting this wrong can be very damaging for the player characters.
Voodoo appears in the tabletop game, so players who are a bit unsure about playing a gunslinger have other options too.
Desperados is free to checkout, but a DTRPG account is required.
