Mixed reality merges live streams with the virtual space, injected graphics, sounds and motion.
At its simplest, mixed reality might be a virtual green screen as software like Zoom uses, but a slightly more sophisticated use is to show what a streamer inside a virtual headset can while the audience also watches them outside the headset.
InstaQuest will show us how it might for Dungeons & Dragons.
Cosplayers and streamers with significant audiences and technical prowess are coming together to make this happen.
There’s ZombiUnicorn who has more than 220K Twitch followers and early as many on YouTube, TheShushiDragon with 196K followers on Twitch, cosplayer and actress Darth Lexi with 156K followers on Instagram and Alex Drastal, who also acts and cosplays, with over 60K on Instagram.
Trailers for D&D on InstaQuest show the cast in full cosplay while taking on a sexy succubus demon and other threats.
The new stream will hope to transform the D&D experience into something we’ve not seen before. InstaQuest aims to merge tabletop gameplay with computer graphics and bring the show to life for audiences.
InstaQuest premiers on July 25th at 1pm PST and will be available on Twitch and YouTube with an accompanying Facebook page.
