Excellent news, I think.
Not only do we have a new and longer trailer for Bill & Ted 3, one which shows the role of their daughters a bit more, but we also have a release date.
Any cinema that’s open and wants the movie can run Bill & Ted 3 from September 2nd, according to Hollywood Reporter.
At the same time, the movie will hit “premium video on demand”, but we’re not told which platforms those are. There will be a virtual Bill & Ted Comic-Con panel this weekend, and so we’ll likely find out then.
The move is an experiment, as American theatres don’t react well to not having an exclusive over video on demand. However, Orion Pictures (a division of MGM) must have calculated that the return of Keanu Reeves and Alex Winter will be enough of a draw to the loyal fanbase that VOD will perform well and few cinema chains will want to miss it.
