Season 2 of The Umbrella Academy starts on Netflix on the 31st and so that should give Dark Horse Comics and Studio71’s The Umbrella Academy game on Kickstarter a little boost.
Though the project doesn’t need it. It launched less than an hour ago and is nearly half-way funded. You can watch the numbers fly by on the campaign page.
The pitch video does a great job of bringing the game to life. It looks straightforward and dysfunctionally fun. Previously, Geek Native shared some artwork ahead of launch, and that gives you another look at the game.
The pledge tiers are equally as straightforward, and the standard edition costs US$25.
At the time of blogging, the standard edition is the least popular. The $45 Deluxe Edition which adds a Kickstarter exclusive game board, 8 exclusive tokens and stretch goals is twice as popular.
But the Deluxe Edition is less popular than the Collector’s Edition. This $75 tier option has had three times as many backers, so far, and upgrades the game with new cover art by Gabriel Ba.
We’re told that shopping will come from local facilities within Europe, the US, Canada and Australia and so no additional duties or taxes are expected. That’s a nice touch!
The game’s rules are currently free to download via this Google Drive link.
