There’s no Gen Con this year due to the lockdown, but that doesn’t mean you have to miss it. Gen Con Online is on right now, until the end of the weekend, and many events are free.
Ah yes, but if you’re a regular attendee, then you might be missing the Indianapolis Convention Center. The 56,00 square feet of the building is usually crowded with fellow geeks and gamers. Last year, 70,000 of us made it there.
Well, Minecraft@GenCon can help.
The entire Convention Center has been rebuilt in Minecraft, and you can take a look for yourself.
If you’re a Minecraft player then simply pick this server play.gcmine.net and come in for a nose around.
Or, you can hit up the project’s Discord server first if you want to ask some questions.
There is plenty of activities to do once you get there. The official site teases options like “Build Battle”, “MineChess”, “Interactive Dealer Hall Exhibits” and “Wabash Ballroom menagerie”. There are easter eggs to look out for.
The project contains a dealer hall, the GenCon Un-Rapid Transit System and a replica of the 2016 gaming hall.
