At a Gen Con Online 2020 discussion hosted by Fantasy Flight Games, Sam Stewart the Roleplaying Games Manager for Edge Studios strongly indicated a new a Genesys powered Twilight Imperium RPG.
8 minutes into the video, while talking about the roleplaying games Fantasy Flight are handing to Edge, Sam says he wants to do a space opera RPG. He then brings up the newly announced Twilight Imperium board game expansion.
I think it would be a great time for us [Edge] to contribute to the fantastic universe of Twilight Imperium through Genesys.
The conversion also talked about the Genesys Foundry which is the community content set up for the game system by Fantasy Flight Games.
Stewart reassured the audience that Edge Studios planned on keeping the Foundry open, going as far as saying that third party creators have provided quality content.
Sam Stewart was the Roleplaying Games Manager for Fantasy Flight Games, coordinating the studio’s Star Wars RPG, Legend of the 5 Rings, the Genesys system which is used to power the KeyForge RPG and others.
Early this year, news emerged suggesting that Fantasy Flight Games had let go of all their RPG developers and where looking to get out of the roleplaying games market.
The company, owned by Asmodee, already worked with Edge Studios, also owned by Asmodee for translations. In the end, Asmodee appeared to move the former FFG RPG licenses to Edge, and Sam Stewart was rehired.
