This looks like an interesting game. First off; it’s from a company called Ninja Theory. They’re the peeps behind Heavenly Sword.
It should come out in 2010 and will be available for both the PS3 and Xbox 360.
The game is set in a post apocalyptic future. I’m a fan of post apocalyptic settings as they’re able to offer up the best of sci-fi and fantasy settings. This isn’t a grey future, with grey ruins and a dark sky. This post apocalyptic future is one where planets have been able to reclaim the land.
Enslaved: Odyssey to the West is a green game.
The game features two escaped slaves. Kinda. The main characters are Monkey (male) a tough, rough and very strong survivalist.
Trip (female) is tech savvy and smart.
It’s Trip who allows the two to escape from the slaver ship. She causes it to crash. It’s also Trip who picks up a slaver headband from the wreck and places it on Monkey.
In the game you play Monkey. It’s not a straight combat game although Monkey’s a super tough slugger. He needs to keep Trip alive. The computer plays Trip. Let’s hope she’s smarter than Coach.
Gameplay is all about the strategy of getting through the robots while keeping Trip alive. Charging into fights, heads on, isn’t likely to be a good tactic.
From watching this intro I get the feeling that Ninja Theory actually want to make a tougher game than usual. Wasn’t one of the complaints about Heavenly Sword was that it was too short? Perhaps this is Ninja Theory’s attempt to cure that.

So, there you have it – Trip and Monkey bound together by technology – battling against technology as they move West.
