An anime from the megathread from Anime Expo Lite is the accidental travel “I’m Standing on Million Lives”. You know the type; when real-life people find themselves living in a fantasy world, sometimes even explicitly a fantasy RPG.
I’m Standing on Million Lives is based on Naoki Yamakawa’s manga, a series illustrated by Akinari Nao. There’s an English language version available from Kodansha Comics.
The anime is about Yusuke Yotsuya, a friendless ninth-grader who is a lone wolf who pretty much does his own thing. In fact, Yotsuya doesn’t even bother with school clubs and isn’t great with working with others.
It isn’t just Yotsuya who gets sent to another world where he has to battle for his life. Some female classmates are caught up and carried with him! How’s the loner supposed to reconcile all that and become a hero?
I’m Standing On A Million Lives is out in Japan in October, and we are waiting to see whether a Western streaming platform will pick it up.
