The YouTube trailer is tagged “Seth Grahame-Smith” but Android Karenina is actually written by Ben H Winters and, oh, Leo Tolstoy.
Mr Winters co-authored Sense and Sensiblity and Sea Monsters.
Mr Tolstoy wrote Anna Karenina. Anna Karenina is a tragic love story which covers the fate of Anna Karenina and Count Alexei Vronsky.
In Android Karenina we move to a steampunk world. Bulters are robotic and rebelious. Actually, you should expect a lot of rebellion.
I’m not sure what’s going on with the publishers. I had thought Quirk Books was being the range but as I nose around online I tend to end up at Irreference. Okay; it’s late, I’ve had a beer, but I’m not sure if Irreference is a re-brand or an imprint. Not that that effects the likely quality of the book at all but it still makes me scratch my head.
If you go back just a few years you’ll find plenty of books that feature Queen Victoria versus Vampires or perhaps a certain Mr Holmes pitting his wits against the undead – but ever since Pride and Prejudice and Zombies we seem to be having a bit of a renaissance.
What do you think? Is it deserved?
