Today, Critical Role released a length featurette that brings fans and Kickstarter backers up to date with the animated series.
Cheekily titled “The Legend of the World of The Legend of Vox Machina” there’s nearly 10 minutes of behind the scenes footage, art and interviews with the cast and crew.
Yes, the point of the video is to promote the show which will stream from Amazon Prime video, but it’s hard to forget that the Critical Role team are professional voice actors. They know this business.
In particular, Titmouse’s Arthur Loftis comes to the fore as a Critter with a genuine enthusiasm for the original series and a talent. Equally, supervising director Sung Jin Ahn comes across as a pleasant details-centric person who’s not going to let any fanboying threaten the bigger picture.
In the featurette, we learn that this series will spend plenty of time at the fantasy metropolis of Emon and The Sun Tree at Whitestone.
The lockdown has hit production so we may not see The Legend of Vox Machina this year but I would rather they get it right than rush it.
