We’ve had one trailer for IwaKakeru! the new climbing girls anime. Now we’ve a full length preview video that reveals a little more.
The question circling the anime since it first landed on Geek Native’s radar is simple. Is this an excuse to have tight spandex on female bodies, or is this a story about young women going out and achieving their goals? It could be both.
The latest anime certainly contorts female bodies into all shapes, and there is a shower scene. That’s enough to edge the needle towards the first possibility.
However, the whole trailer seems purely focused on sports, rivalry and friendship. There’s not a single guy in the entire trailer and suggests that maybe the climbing girls won’t be defined as girlfriends, sisters or concerning other people but as people in their own right.
The show is due out early October.
