Monsters of Murka was a Kickstarter hit last year with a satirical take on the politics of the United States of America.
The 5e-powered game is back on Kickstarter with a supplement focused on buying stuff. Action Fiction asked for $16,000 to fund the book and with three weeks left now have nearly $23,000 pledged.
The voice-over for the pitch video is not safe to work. You can check out the details on the campaign page.
Charismatic voice-over lady certainly does help to sell Restaurants and Retail to me, framing the humour (sometimes self-deprecating humour) of the game to me.
Restaurants and Retail adds Flavor City to the Murca setting, a magically-concealed town in which saucerers of gourmomancy and powerful paladins reside with incredible food.
There are new subclasses too such as the Wizard School of Gourmomancy, but also the Rogue Stocker, Ranger Bargain Hunter, Artificier Custodian, Barbarian Path of the Punk and the Druid Circle of Urbana.
You’d think you could find solace from the capitalism of Restaurants and Retail with the Barbarian punks. Let’s hope so.
A pledge of $20 will get you the book in a digital format with your name in it and immediate access to the playtest materials.
If you need the original book, then step up to $30 to get both PDFs at once. You won’t have long to wait as the delivery for both those tiers is December of this year.
It’s $35 for the softcover and no mention of a hardcover option yet. That’s often a wise option for a small publisher, but this campaign is knocking the stretch goals down, and Action Fiction has not disclosed them all.
Action Fiction has a Discord server where you can ask more questions and a commitment to make an accessible book from their diverse pool of creators.
