South African director Michael Matthews’s Love and Monsters is skipping a cinematic release and going straight to digital. It had already been delayed serval times.
The movie is set seven years after the Monsterpocalypse. It’s not a zombie plague that ruins the world, but a monster one.
Joel Dawson (Dylan O’Brien) loses his family in the outbreak, but his high school sweetheart Aimee (Jessica Henwick) manages to escape somewhere else.
Eventually, the two manage to reconnect over the radio and Joel decides there’s nothing keeping him in the apparent safety of his current underground hideaway and so sets out on the near-suicidal 80-mile trek to the coastal colony where Aimee shelters.
Michael Rooker’s hunter character looks fantastic.
The movie will come to Apple TV, Vudu, Prime Video, FandangoNow, Google Play and Xfinity.
