Norwegian indie computer game developer Rain has teamed up with Phil and Kaja Foglio to begin the madcap world of Girl Genius to PC, Mac, Linux and Switch. More consoles may be added.
Right now, though, there are 6 days on the clock. The goal is $200,000, and the project has collected just shy of $160,000. That’s looking fairly good; even a bottom of the graph projection from Kicktraq shows success. You can see what the current total is over on the campaign page.
Previously Rain has made Teslagrad and World to the West, but I can’t say they’re on my radar. Girl Genius, on the other hand, is. I’ve read some of the novels and thoroughly enjoyed them. The comics are just a matter of time.
It’s only a $15 pledge to get a copy of the game for PC or Mac. Linux requires a physical copy, so it costs more.
If you’re not a computer game fan but are a hardcore Girl Genius fan, then there are pledge tiers that don’t offer the game. $40 gets you the art book in digital and the development book, for example.
The $60 tier is the most popular, offering a physical collectors edition of the game, and a digital one, soundtrack, Discord access, documentary footage and a wallpaper.
No sign of a minmoth, anywhere.
