Ex-Lumine is an upcoming dark-fantasy tabletop roleplaying game with dieselpunk influences.
Characters in the game are Soul Binders. Equipped with special lanterns, Soul Binders can absorb and consume the souls of the dead. They do this to battle corrupted creatures which are known as Tenebris.
The quickstarter is now free to download. Right now, this requires your email address but a DriveThruRPG page is coming.
The world of Ex-Lumine is Terminus. Once a green and peaceful world, but now wrecked after a war between East and West ended in a blasphemous ritual summoned a powerful evil force.
Ex-Lumine uses a D100 “roll-under” system, offers 5 unique races and culture-specific Soul Binder orders.
The game does without levels, has a travelling system as well as optional rules for companions and hirelings.
In Terminus souls are currency, it’s not just the lanterns of the Soul Binders that use them but a wide variety of soul-powered armour, weapons and machines. In this game, guns and soul-powered vehicles can be found.
Accompanying the soulbound technology, are soulbound professions; people with the skill to craft these incredible soul-powered artifacts, or understand ancient alchemy, or even Soulsmiths with the strength and skill to forge armour.
Also free to download is The Ferryman, available at DriveThruRPG, which is a short story set in Terminus.
The Ferryman describes Ex-Lumine as a grimdark, post-apocalyptic tabletop RPG set in a world poisoned by a dark fog of Corruption.
You can follow Ex-Lumine’s development via the games’ Facebook page.
