Handiwork Games’ The Hermit’s Sanctuary was (and is) a free to download adventure designed to show off the upcoming Beowulf RPG.
Beowulf, and The Hermit’s Sanctuary, is based in 5e but designed for duet play; just a DM and one other player. Handy during a lockdown, right?
Well, the duet play demo was the plan. Then the Hermit’s Sanctuary was nominated for two ENnies. The freebie went on to do so well that Handiwork Games are now releasing it in print.
Beowulf may be the oldest European story known to history. It’s the epic of one hero’s battle against a monster. Then the monster’s mum. Then a dragon.
Hey, no one said he was lucky. It is, however, an example of how some folklore is about one person, not a handy group of people who waited in turn to act.
