Paizo will release the Starfinder adventure path A Light in the Dark on the 14th, and it’s part one of three in the Drift Hackers series.
Right now, and for free, you can download the Drift Hacker’s Players Guide (PDF Link).
A Light in the Dark starts high, designed for four 7th-level Starfinder characters. Drift Hackers wraps up the Drift Crisis, an event that crosses the Starfinder RPG game line. Faster-than-light travel has been disrupted in Drift Crisis, and the whole galaxy is in a mess.
In crumbling Alluvion, the goddess Triune’s city domain within the Drift, the heroes are thrust into the center of tensions between anxious factions at the heart of the Drift Crisis catastrophe! By agreeing to aid a desperate android priest of Casandalee, the heroes can start to help healing these divides. But first, they must curry the favor of a community of ysoki scrappers outside of the Dark, a neighborhood where technology doesn’t work that hasn’t been touched by light for decades. Exploring those murky streets, they confront undead menaces and otherworldly spirits of hatred and anger, eventually restoring light and power to the cursed region, and shining further illumination as to the origin of the Drift Crisis!
The free Player’s Guide introduces some party backgrounds so your players can begin to coordinate ideas and help get your campaign off to a good start.
The backgrounds have mechanical benefits such as new abilities. There are also story tie-ins to groups coming out from Against the Aeon Throne and Drift Crashers Adventure Paths, as well as those survivors who made it through the Liberation of Locus-1 adventure.
New gear connected to the in-game consequences of the Drift Crisis is also available in the freebie, including armour upgrades and new spectra weapons.
