[Back this Campaign] I’ve certainly spent ages tracking down some background music for a key scene or battle and then left it on my laptop running in loop while I GM the scene. I think three things happened; firstly my scene was improved, secondly I forgot it was running until a few scenes later and […]
A King Cobra folded from a single tissue
This impressive piece of origami was designed by Ronald Koh and folded by Matthieu Georger. It is one piece of tissue paper. The paper was treated in order to give it the wonderful colour effect but much of the detail, such as the scales, was created individually through many paper folds.
Cyborg Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles
One of the first RPGs I really got into in a big way was Palladium Book’s TMNT RPG. I loved the fact you could pick an animal, spend you bio-points to build a mutant and then start the usual character gen process. Talk about control. These Turtle Tech illustrations from deviant artist Justin Currie get […]
Gaming history: A First Survey – Science Fiction Hobby Games
Do you know much about the origin of the roleplaying games hobby? Perhaps you know Gary Gygax published Dungeons & Dragons in 1974? A gamer geek might remind you that it was Dave Arneson and Gary Gygax who published the game. D&D was actually a cariation of the Chainmail war game too. Neal Tringham is […]
The Nintendo Necronomicon: The Nintendomoicon?
It turns out the Right Wing were right. Gaming is evil. Gaming is devil worship. Nintendo summons demons from the cyber-realms of horror and darkness and places them in the homes of young people and the innocent. This picutre of the Nintendo Necromonicon is all the evidence you would ever need. Right? Via Imgur.

Attack on Titan, featured in Irregular Reconnaissance, is an anime doing well in the East and West at once. […]

Dalek cake
This is another great geeky cake from Mike’s Amazing Cakes. As birthday cakes go … this one is hard to beat. That’s true of most Daleks, though, they’re hard to beat. The days of defeating them with your coat and a handful of mud are long gone.
Conan the Barbarian: Fury of the Beast diorama
A 1:5 scale diorama – that means it measures 28 inches in height. The diorama shows Conan the Barbarian in battle. It comes with three interchangeable hands so you can arm Conan with either a broadsword, axe or dagger. If I was up against that beast I would hope I had something better than a […]
J.R.R. Tolkien reads the Namárië in Elvish
We know Tolkien as the author of the Lord of the Rings. He was a professor and a linguist. He actually created Elven languages to support Middle Earth. He wanted them to have a certain sound. The poem above is spoken, by Tolkien himself, in the Elbish tongue Quenya. It’s easy to hear the pattern […]
