This video features a Nao from Aldebaran Robotics doing the same routine. What the video shows is just how good robotic motion has become. The little droid gave the Evolution of Dance a pretty good work out. The only catch? He didn’t seem so sure about the edge of the table.
Watch the Firefly 10 year anniversary Comic Con video
We might not be able to find a web cam stream of Comic Con this year (comment if you know one) but the heroes at Things From Another World did a bang up job of capturing the full hour-long Firefly 10 year anniversary panel on video.
Haunted woods to terrify your players
Haunted forests and woods are common in old stories because villagers had every reason to discourage children from straying too far or had actually become suspicious of something sinister going on in. In a game it can be much harder to convey the same creepy feeling that dark and oddly silent woods can conjure up […]
The Royal Armouries buys vampire-slaying kit
The Royal Armouries is a museum in Leeds, United Kingdom. Last week, the Royal Armouries made the news by spending £7,500 on an 19th century vampire-slaying kit. The £7,500 isn’t a large amount of money for a museum to spend but the purchase itself was interesting. The 19th centuary is rather late on the millenium […]
LEGO samurai Oni slayer
Andrew Lee is a skilled Lego builder. Wintermute on BrickShelf and onosendai2600 on Flickr he is worth tracking if Lego is your thing. In any case, it’s certainly worth checking out this impressive Lego sumurai. I figure the warrior is holding the head of an Oni or similar, but Lee notes; “Someone needs to kick […]
Shogun armour Boba Fett style
Prop builder Allen Amis makes a living building custom sci-fi weapons and armour. He was inspired by Clinton Felker’s artwork, an unique blend of sci-fi with historic, that he created an actual suit of armour. The armour Amis has created is a fantastic hybrid of shogun with the infamous bounty hunter Boba Fett. What do […]
Real life elephant wooden steampunk elephant mecha!
The title of this post is “Real life elephant wooden steampunk elephant mecha” to which my only comment can be; “No! Really!” French artists François Delarozière and Pierre Orefice have built, from wood and metal, a working, elephant shaped mecha that snorts steam. It’s the most surreal and the most artistic mecha you’re likely to […]
The world’s tallest LEGO tower – more than 500,000 bricks
What did you do this weekend? A team of LEGO fans took four days to build a 500,000+ brick tower. Built at Legoland Windsor, the tower is built from 160 different colour sections that were constructed at ground level before a crane was used to help get them into position on the tower. The Lego […]
Meatspider’s Cthulhu Idol draws on Venus Figurines for real cult vibe
The term “Venus figurine” is used to describe quite a range of prehistoric statues. A quick peak at the Wikipedia page reveals plenty of photos but very often we’re looking at round or pregnant carvings that exaggerate some body parts while neglecting others. Over on Etsy, Meatspider Studios houses a collection of weird and wonderful […]
