Artist Jeffrey Thomas is a talent I admire. Based in Burbank, CA, United States he is able to create some of the most visually impressive characters I know. Kendra of the North is a series that Thomas has posted without comment. We’re left to hope it’s a commission or something similar for an animated series. […]
WonderCon for those who couldn’t go
Geek Native dusts off ye olde Storify account in order to dig into WonderCon 2012. This Scottish blogger was miles away, wanted to go but had no chance of making it. With Storify we can see what people were saying, blogging, tweeting and vlogging about the event. The best have been included below. [View the […]
Bionic boots enter PVC fashion as geek meets glam
Etsy store Bionic Concepts has a bold photo shoot on display in order to sell a $500 pair of boots. Here’s the first disclaimer; the boots aren’t included. I assume we’re talking about the metal struts; the faux hydraulic armour made from lightweight aluminum and ABS plastic. The boots are made to order, which takes […]
Mass Effect cosplay all the rage
Geek Native has been lucky enough to share a whole range of Mass Effect cosplay. The discoveries keep on coming. The picture below, from LJinto, was taken last year and shows Samara, Liara, Miranda and Tai from Mass Effect. I imagine by this time next year we’ll have a few Edi cosplayers too. Via Cosplay […]
Ride the Xenomorph
Built from scrap in a Bangkok garage by Roongrojna Sangwongprisarn, the alien motorcycle, actually goes. Sangwongprisarn has four shops, called Ko Art Shop, from which he sells his fantatic creation. If you’re rich enough he also exports them around the world. If you’re brave enough you could actually ride this thing. Via Design You Trust.
The lady superheroes of 1887
For the full collection pop over to Michael Dooney’s deviant art page. Dooney works professionally on the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turles series. A special thank you is deserved for not using the phrase “steampunk” for these illustrations. Instead, they’re an alternative form of Victoriana. (via)
Millennium Falcon table is pretty sweet
R-9 make functional sci-fi art. They say they’re inspired by Hollywood’s greatest special effects masters but I imagine some people find R-9’s designs pretty inspirational. The gallery is impressive and I rather like the Millennium Falcon table. It has a more homely feel than Han Solo’s frozen face staring out at you.
Would you destroy the AT-AT cake?
Tasty looking cake baked for a 4-year-old girl who had the good sense (and good parenting) to ask for an AT-AT cake for her birthday. The question is – could you destory this AT-AT cake? Would you take that knife and cut into it? Okay, if the chef was watching would you reconsider? (via)
Post-Apocalyptic Ruin
This short animation is rather good. Set in a post-apocalyptic univese we can see that nature is beginning to take back the world. The action starts when someone, a humanoid figure, drops something heavy from one of the ruined skyscrapers. That’s when things get interesting. Should be good idea fuel for any GM about to […]
Blueshore Global pin Game’s recovery on console cycle
In the UK the biggest computer game retailer – GAME – is having a horrible time. They seem to be at death’s door given that key suppliers like EA, Sega, Nintendo and Microsoft are now refusing to sell stock to the shop. Only Sony and Activision seem faithful. Do Codemasters count? At one point it […]
