It’s true that you should be keeping an eye on Geeks are Sexy. It’s not true that they concentrate on finding sexy geek images – it just so happens that sometimes that’s exactly what they do. For example, there’s this Mrs Vader image they grokked off IGN (which now seems to have been removed from […]
Chair for women with a hentai fetish? Cthulhu chair?
I think words may have escaped this blogger. Designer Maximo Riera call this an Octopus Chair from their Animal Chair range. The Octopus Chair is the first in the collection. It’s supposed to be biologically accurate and it looks like it is. It’s supposed to represent the animal’s natural vitality. Maybe it does… but this […]
A demon rug: doom for your floor!
Do you know those old style hunting rugs? The ones with the hide of some mighty game beast stretched out on the floor in front of the fireplace? In most games they feature in haunted houses or belong to insane hunters who decide the ultimate is to track the human-animal. Miss Monster has a new […]
An interview with Dan Abnett
Warhammer and 2000 AD geek natives will be familiar with the name Dan Abnett. Marvel and Dark Horse fans will also know him. That’s an impressive tally of geek cred. It is little surprise then that Dan’s one of the big names reached out to by the masterminds behind the relaunch of Primeval. Dan Abnett’s […]
Octocute plushie
Just a quick post to share the blue cuteness of an octocute octo-plushie. It’s from Shana Logic who coordinate a number of indie designers. The octo-plushie was designed by Jayne Danger – who must score a whole number of kudos points for having such a great name. Ta-da!
Star Wars snow trench run of doom
The Great White Snark has dug up a homemade Star Wars trench run. It is another example of how creative some people can be while coping with Snowmageddon. I think it is also an example of how far on homebrew special effects software has come. I’ll predict we’ll be seeing very much more in the […]
A south pointing chariot made from Lego
The South Pointing Chariot is a wonder of engineering from ancient China. Legend suggests it was invented by the Yellow Emperor arround 2600 BC (though it probably wasn’t!). The south pointing chariot has an arm which always points south. THis isn’t a compass. This is done entirely through gears, getting the radio and track right. […]
TSR’s DragonStrike video – 30 mins of D&D cheese
This video dates back to 1993 when TSR had created the board game DragonStrike. You’ll be familiar with the strategy here; TSR wanted to lower the bar for Dungeons and Dragons, making it easier to play to attract a wider audience. For this video they took 90s style special effects and 80s style writing to […]
The best lightsaber recreation yet?
I’m a little concerned that Slothfurnace’s lightsaber is unofficial and therefore open to the attack lawyers of doom that Lucasfilm sometimes release from the pits. I’m concerned because I believe this is one of the best lightsaber recreations we’ve seen on the internet to date. What do you think? Pretty impressive, huh?
Alternative Lord of the Rings: Where Gimli destroys the ring
“I kill Gandalf” famous words from Igor in John Kovalic’s Dork Tower. That’s certainly an alternative Lord of the Rings. Kovalic’s also renowned for the comic strip where a giant eagle is used to fly over the volcano so that the ring can be dropped from above. The question is – are there other possible […]
