Product Description
Isolate your target and shoot with precision using the Sniper Rifle for Wii. This plastic sniper rifle possesses a very life-like mold, yet its white plastic color prevents it from being mistaken for an actual rifle. To operate, place the Wii Remote (with or without Wii MotionPlus adapter connected) in the top cradle of the gun and the Wii Nunchuk in its outer stock. After attaching the controllers, manage the wires by using the cable slot and close the top covers. On the front piece of the magazine are buttons marked C and Z that allow you to simultaneously press the corresponding buttons on the Wii Nunchuk. Pull the trigger and you’ll press the B button located under the Wii Remote. For added effect, a sniper scope and front barrel stand attaches to the rifle for pure cosmetic appeal, not for actual gaming accuracy. Building on the “coolness-factor” of its appearance is the aesthetic possibilities created by the inter-changeable barrel / magazine tube and stock. Take off the stock and sport the “sawed off” look ala Terminator 2 or remove the front barrel and you’ll have a compact blaster. Loaded to the teeth with these features, this heavy-duty piece of video game artillery is ready to wreak vicious obliteration! Compatible with the following Nintendo Wii Games: • Medal of Honor: Heroes 2 • Medal of Honor: Vanguard • Resident Evil 4 • Ghost Squad • Ultimate Duck Hunting

- Reviewed in the United States on May 3, 2011Very nice design. Would have loved if it was avaiblable in black to match my wii and other accessories. I see some people have problems with this sniper rifle but i have not had any since i got it. Like one reviewer said, you guys just aren't doing it right. Works really well with some games but others are better off with the wii zapper (which i also would like in black). Games i use the sniper rifle on are, RE: Umbrella Chronicles, RE: Darkside Chronicles, House of the Dead 1&2, Reload, and Sniper Elite (the sniper rifle gives me a more realistic feel on Sniper Elite). The box says its compatible with RE4 but doesn't seem to work for me since A is the fire button for RE4 and most games B is the button used to fire your weapon. I still manage to play RE4 with the sniper rifle but i prefer the wii mote and nunchuk. I do have to say that maybe this sniper rifle was meant for people with bigger hands. I can't see a small hand being able to hold the rifle and pull the trigger. No prob for me!
- Reviewed in the United States on April 7, 2011I was hoping this would help my Black Ops game play. It took some time and energy to figure out the best way to operate this. It requires the use of one hand to both move (nunchuck stick) and shoot (B button). And then the Z and C button were "remote" controlled on the mock magazine handle. The grip was too large/bulky and square giving me a cramp trying to keep my finger on the trigger and move at the same time. The front grip was too close to the middle of the unit and made for an uncomfortable position along with the same bulky squareness (if that is even a word). The nunchuck was difficult to set into the stalk and was not very snug. If the nunchuck move around at all then the Z and C buttons did not make a good connection. The add ons like the barrel, scope, stand, and stalk extension are neat novelties but cheesy. If the Z and C buttons could be moved to the front where the detachable sand went I think that would have made it more conferrable but still would have fixed the problem with the buttons connections on the nunchuck in the back. Over all this was more of a novelty and did nothing to actually make the experience any better. I ended up returning only after a week. My hands said thank you.
- Reviewed in the United States on March 31, 2014Great looking and works fairly well. My only complaint is that the gun doesn't always fire in the exact direction you point it. After some adjusting of the controllers and the wii receiver bar to a higher position it worked much better -- although still not always 100%.
I recommend it for the realistic feel it gives the game, but you may need to do some adjustments to get it just right.
- Reviewed in the United States on May 12, 2010First of all this will NOT work with Resident Evil 4 as the trigger in the RE 4 is the A button and not the B button. The button layout can not be changed in Resident Evil 4.
Far worse is the size of the handle of the gun. It way too thick. I do not have huge hands, but not small ones either and I can not see being able to reasonably have my thumb on the nunchuck's analog stick and a finger on the trigger. It is a very poor design. Also, in games like Call of Duty, where you have to access the A,-,+, and the D pads to have the Wii remote so far forward in the gun makes it impossible to access the buttons with any resonable speed and still have your fingers on the C, and Z buttons from the nunchuck.
I would definately go with the zapper. There is a nice one that has a front and back handle. It is similar in design to this gun but is smaller and easier to handle. It does not have all the attachments that this does but why do you need a fake scope that you do not use or a bi-pod that is also just for show.
Overall this things is horrible.
- Reviewed in the United States on March 29, 2011The media could not be loaded.
Objective: Approximate 1:1 accuracy via simple line-of-sight aiming.
Requirements:
- Minimum 10 feet between the Wii Remote and the Wii's sensor bar (maximum about 15 feet). TV, sensor bar, and player should be centered precisely. Don't step away from this centered firing position.
- Remove any accessory/extensions from the rifle that may obstruct the Wii Remote's view of the sensor bar. There shouldn't be any unusual problems with existing Wii Pointer tracking in the first place.
- `Ghost Squad` and `The House of the Dead 2&3 Return` are the ONLY two shooting games on Wii that calibrate properly, easily, and reliably. You will not get good results in other games due to their limited design, options, and/or their technical shortcomings.
- Be calm and aim carefully. Wii knows how much you twitch, and there's always a slight delay between your movement and the final shot/cursor location.
Quick review?
4/5 stars because the handle is poorly designed, difficult to grasp, and makes the Nunchuk harder to reach (I thought the Sure Shot Rifle had a good handle, but a poor trigger mechanism), and the thinner diameter in the middle of the scope reduces direct visibility. The trigger works much better than the previous Sure Shot Rifle and Buzz Shotgun designs, and the C/Z buttons have better placement. In the end, the product is a strong match with Ghost Squad's weapon selection, but clearly has room for improvement. On the software side, the applications for any "good" Wii gun accessory are very limited -- for now, "arcade gameplay" is their rightful place. Frankly, gun accessories shouldn't be used with FPS's (and similar action games) until the games are properly designed to take advantage of the accessories. As many users have pointed out, they've tried it and wasted their time/money.
My workaround for the handle is: I don't use it -- my thumb rests on the side while my middle finger supports the ring under the trigger. Holding the foregrip, which holds the rifle against my shoulder, actually does most of the hard work. For practical purposes, the rear "lens" of the scope should've included some kind of printed sight posts to aid sighting in conjunction with the front crosshair (I just used a marker to paint a dot in the center of my lens).
