Some geeky mashups are just unexpected. I’d suggest that an Optimus Prime amigurumi is one such treat. Crochet robots in disguise? It’s Voxmortuum’s who now a worldwide geek hero and I can only imagine their Flickr account is enjoying a healthy dose of visitors.

Duke Nukem Forever trailer: would you still hit it?
I think we can sum up the Duke Nukem Forever with the familiar mantra of “guns, girls and explosions”. And aliens. Aliens and humuor. It’s an interesting mix. I’m in two minds about Duke Nukem; one half respects the nostalgia and the second half would needs more RPG juice to make picking this up worthwhile. […]
Japan arrests two for selling modified anime figure on eBay
Here’s one for the books. Two Japanese men, one 35 and one 36, have been arrested by police in Niigata Prefecture in Japan for trying to sell a modified anime figure on eBay. It is alleged that the two anime fans have breached Japan’s Copyright Act by trying to sell the altered Kamen Rider W […]
LittleBigPlanet 2 rocked by “Kill Obama” levels
My copy of LittleBigPlanet 2 is sitting on the table waiting to be played. It just has to wait until I finally finish off Fallout New Vegas. That’ll happen soon because I really want to play LittleBigPlanet again. What I don’t want is to stumble into stupid American political diatribe. The team over at Destructoid […]
Games Workshop’s Blood Angels trailer
Games Workshop have a new video teaser for the Space Marine chapter the “Blood Angels”. New figures are due out in Feb 2011. The video shows the new Blood Angel models including the Furioso Dreadnought (which looks like it’ll take many months of pocket money to buy!) and the Stormraven. Some of the YouTube comments […]
Video interview: Sean Bean on playing Ned Stark in a Game of Thrones
The warning I give you is that this an MTV interview. Expect weird sound effects. The rest is common sense – Sean Bean read the books, loved it, saw the team who’d been working on the TV project and wanted to work with them. He finds himself drawn to the medieval style roles but welcomes […]
A Sickness in the Family review
This is a paradox. A Sickness in the Family is a smashing graphic novel by Denise Mina (who wrote Still Midnight) but I can’t say I finished by saying “I’m glad I read that.” I’d still recommend the book to friends but I’ll not tell them they’ll enjoy it. A Sickness in the Family is […]
Final Fantasy XIII-2 confirmed
There will be a sequel to Final Fantasy XIII. This isn’t the surprise it could have been because the clever internet noticed Square Enix’s domain name registration company buyng a Final Fantasy XIII-2 domain. The official Final Fantasy XIII-2 site is a microsite on Square-Enix right now though. Oh. And it’s in Japanese. At the […]
The Avengers: Will it be Avengers versus Avengers?
There’s always a good backstory to the creation of a superteam. There’s conflict – typically a misunderstanding – but then everything comes together nicely. When we’re talking about the creation of the Avengers we also have to consider the role of The Hulk. Will he be a hero from the outset or an anti-hero? It’s […]
New Game of Thones trailer
Some of us in the UK might still be reeling from the news that there will be no Game of Thrones for us but HBO and Sky Atlantic viewers around the world will soon be able to watch this highly anticipated adaptation. HBO have published a new trailer for the series – called “The Game […]
