The web is abuzz for the trailer of Ridley Scott’s Prometheus. The film started life as a prequel to Alien. That notion was then dismissed and denied by 20th Century Fox. Then it became a film in the same universe as Alien – sharing “strands of Alien’s DNA”. Certainly, when you watch the Prometheus trailer […]

Ascendancy – Rogue Marshal heralds new RPG system
Ascendancy – Rogue Marshal from Broken Tower is a 288-paged RPG with 5 unique races, 200 magical weaves, 40 unique vocations and which uses the FateStorm RPG system. FateStorm sounds grandiose. Broken Tower use the phrase “virtual reality system” to describe it. It’s taken some 5 years, we’re told, to pull FateStorm together and it’s […]
Marvel reclothing heroes
Marvel have announced that Kelly Sue DeConnick will be reinventing Carol Danvers. The Air Force officer is no longer Ms. Marvel. Danvers will be Captain Marvel. DeConnick comes in to helm the new series at a time when DC is taking some flack for sexing up some of their female heroes in their recent relaunch. […]
The lady superheroes of 1887
For the full collection pop over to Michael Dooney’s deviant art page. Dooney works professionally on the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turles series. A special thank you is deserved for not using the phrase “steampunk” for these illustrations. Instead, they’re an alternative form of Victoriana. (via)
Millennium Falcon table is pretty sweet
R-9 make functional sci-fi art. They say they’re inspired by Hollywood’s greatest special effects masters but I imagine some people find R-9’s designs pretty inspirational. The gallery is impressive and I rather like the Millennium Falcon table. It has a more homely feel than Han Solo’s frozen face staring out at you.
Would you destroy the AT-AT cake?
Tasty looking cake baked for a 4-year-old girl who had the good sense (and good parenting) to ask for an AT-AT cake for her birthday. The question is – could you destory this AT-AT cake? Would you take that knife and cut into it? Okay, if the chef was watching would you reconsider? (via)

Lords of Waterdeep is an official, Wizards of the Coast, Dungeons & Dragons game. Waterdeep is from the Forgotten Realms setting – sometimes called the City of Splendors and is known for political intrigue and lords wrestling for power. The game is for 2 to 5 players. It looks like a fairly complex game with […]
Post-Apocalyptic Ruin
This short animation is rather good. Set in a post-apocalyptic univese we can see that nature is beginning to take back the world. The action starts when someone, a humanoid figure, drops something heavy from one of the ruined skyscrapers. That’s when things get interesting. Should be good idea fuel for any GM about to […]
Blueshore Global pin Game’s recovery on console cycle
In the UK the biggest computer game retailer – GAME – is having a horrible time. They seem to be at death’s door given that key suppliers like EA, Sega, Nintendo and Microsoft are now refusing to sell stock to the shop. Only Sony and Activision seem faithful. Do Codemasters count? At one point it […]
LEGO robots help Cambridge University grow bones
This video is all kinds of awesome. Firstly, there should be more knowledge about bones. Medical science knows jack about bones and it annoys this blogger. Secondly, wow – we’ve got LEGO and robots, they’re in use in a hardcore science lab and all this is part of the Google Science fair. What’s not to […]
