Is this the next Gundam? Cross Ange trailer

August 4, 2014 by Andrew Girdwood Leave a Comment

Cross Ange is a new mecha anime from Sunrise. That’s the team responsible for mecha hits like Gundam, Code Geass and Vlavrave. Mitsui Fukuda, Gundam SEED director, is the creative director on the project. If you happened to notice the pilot’s armour was odd; a mix of protective shell and knickers then you’d be right. […]

Gundam diorama: After Air Strikes

February 25, 2013 by Andrew Girdwood 1 Comment

There’s no doubting the quality around this Gundam diorama. We can see from the photo that it’s called “After Air Strikes”. However, it was shared on a pin board that does not seem to favour attribution so finding out the creator will take a little bit more research.

Gundam & Figma stop motion battle

May 7, 2012 by Andrew Girdwood Leave a Comment

File this video under “if you have the models – you might as well do something with them” in the stop motion sub-section. Counter 656 says this video took around 3,000 pictures to film. That’s on top of 30 days for the production. The result is a set of models that impress.

When Pikachu found a Gundam

May 6, 2012 by Andrew Girdwood Leave a Comment

What would happen when everyone’s favourite electric rat found a Gundam suit, wings, guns and all to play around with? Okay, imagine for a minute that the suit was Pikachu sized. That would result in a Pikachu with Gundam wings and an arsenal to pay attention to. Thanks to Modelers G we can see what […]

LEGO fuses Evangelion and Gundam

April 17, 2012 by Andrew Girdwood Leave a Comment

This creation mixes Evangelion and Gundam styles together. I say that up front because I didn’t twig from the title “EVA Gundam”. I heard the music and though to myself – wait, no, that’s the wrong mecha. Then I doubted myself. Wait, no, maybe… It’s a mix. That’s why. It’s impressive but it’ll mess with […]

Beez Entertainment to close?

January 4, 2012 by Andrew Girdwood Leave a Comment

“BEEZ no longer exists,” says a post on the French site Forum Gundam after Google Translate has had a bash at the text. Sadly, this could be true – the news that Bandai Entertainment would shutter all new anime broke this week. Both Bandai Entertainment and BEEZ are owned by the same company – Namco […]

Armored Trooper VOTOMS: Pailsen Files movie review

October 15, 2011 by Andrew Girdwood Leave a Comment

Armored Trooper VOTOMS is an anime series with a long history; 52 TV episodes that started in 1983, plenty of movies and games. VOTOMS is a mecha fighting series – but unlike Gundam the mecha are not giant space robots, they’re suits about 4 metres tall, they’re about as “man size” as powered fighting suits […]

Summer time lapse of a life-sized Gundam

August 7, 2010 by Andrew Girdwood Leave a Comment

Anime heroes tend to come and go. Sure, the likes of Bleach, Dragonball Z or even Pokemon have been around for years – but compare that to Batman or Superman. Compare those to the likes of the Phantom or the Shadow. I’m no expert but my gut feeling is that Gundam is one of the […]
