Dead Agressor: Exodus trailer

January 4, 2014 by Andrew Girdwood Leave a Comment

The trailer for Fafner in the Azure: Dead Agressor: Exodus contains some fantastic animation. The harbour scene looks incredibly well drawn. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zWEh8X0xPEc The video also seems to focus on stern or gloomy looking people. This is actually a sci-fi anime, a mecha series, that had been planned for 2013 but now has a Q3 2014 […]

The Next Generation – Patlabor is the name of the live action spinoff from the anime Patlabor films. The plan is to make some 12 episodes but release them as 7 chapters. Each chapter will get a cinematic release. It’s expected chapter 1, aka episodes 0 and 1, will hit cinemas in Japan for April […]

The truck mech

December 22, 2013 by Andrew Girdwood Leave a Comment

This incredible mech build was made out of an old Nissan truck and several bucket loads of scrap metal. The mech stands at about 12 feet tall and only took a month to build. Okay, so it probably can’t move but that’s no reason to strip the word “mech” from the concept. You know exactly […]

Stick with it: A review of Horizon in the Middle of Nowhere

November 3, 2013 by Andrew Girdwood Leave a Comment

I found Horizon in the Middle of Nowhere incredibly confusing and almost frustrating to begin with. It looked like an incredibly cosmopolitan collection of students in training and apparently running the city. By “cosmopolitan” I mean we had mechs, witches, naked but not anatomically complete incubus, sports stars with eyes in their hats, buxom school […]

What Does the Mech Say?

October 21, 2013 by Andrew Girdwood Leave a Comment

Based on “What does the Fox Say” by Ylvis (which I won’t try and explain; I’ll just let you search) is this MechWarrior Online paraody from Geoff Gerber and Owen Sartori. If you’re feeling brave and before you watch the video why not share in the comment box what you think the Mech will say? […]

Super Mecha Awesome Go!: A Review of Apotheosis Drive X

October 14, 2013 by Paul Baldowski Leave a Comment

Pacific Rim made a big splash this year with Giant Robots battling Mutant Monsters from Another Dimension. We have more monsters and robots to come, I’m certain. Hollywood has found their cool thing of the moment. Manga and anime series love this stuff – and I have enjoyed years of Giant Robots throughout childhood and […]

Wooden cephalopod riding beast

September 6, 2013 by Andrew Girdwood Leave a Comment

We’ve featured this impressive steampunk elephant on Geek Native already. Can the company that created the wooden mecha repeat the trick? The short answer is yes – they certainly can. Created for Les Machines de l’le de Nantes is this impressive wooden cephalopod. Squid. Cthulhuspawn. Okay, the elephant walks but I bet this monster creation […]

Competition: Win one of three Pacific Rim novels

July 15, 2013 by Andrew Girdwood Leave a Comment

Pacific Rim is getting early rave reviews; giant mech fight for mankind against the Kaiju. Have you seen it yet? It looks like even the Jaegers, those giant mechs, aren’t enough to fight off the threat but mankind has one last chance – a washed up has-been pilot and an untested trainee coupled with a […]

Over two minutes of Pacific Rim greatness

May 1, 2013 by Andrew Girdwood Leave a Comment

My expectations are getting dangerously high for Pacific Rim. This is never a good thing. Check out this trailer and tell me if I’m wrong. Add in Guillermo de Toro, Idris Elba, Ron Perlman and even Ellen (Glados) McLain – then tell me I’m wrong? I know! I might be wrong. It could all come […]
